You want your own website? Fast and robust, with form submission, ajax, fully dynamic? Sit back and relax, you will get all the information you need to accomplish all that during these blog series. Ok on to our first post!
1. Domain Registration.
Choosing and registering a name for your website like (www.yourname.com). Before registering any domain name, here's something you have to know. You will be putting quite a bit of time into your website to get it up and running, not to just sit there unvisited right? Until your site can be found by search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN, you basically don't exist on the internet. Google is the almighty one, you don't have to like them, but get them to like your website at every stage and details starting with your domain name (www.makesuregooglelikeit.com).
Stay away as much as possible from the .info - most people who do bad things on the internet use them to accomplish their evil deeds. Until proven not guilty, google bot might think twice before crawling your .info website.
Register your domain for longer than just one year, the longer the better - it's a good sign in the eyes of Google almighty.
Beside that feel free to choose any other extension that make sense to you. Extension .com .net .tv or any other ones have nothing to do with what you can or cannot have on your site.
Choose a name that include the KEYWORD of your website. This is very important people! unless you have plenty of money saved to advertise your website either through adwords or any other ways, make sure your website can be found by Google. Take some times to come up with the best SEO friendly domain name.
While you're registering your domain name, you will notice that most of the good logical names are already taken, whatever you do, get creative to get pass that, but make sure your keyword is mentioned.
You will also notice that some names are available but for sale. Some people make it a business to register popular keywords and logical names and resell them for mad Kash! I'll leave that up to you to decide what do vis a vis this situation, all I'm saying is that make sure your site name is logical and have your keyword.
After you carefully come up with a few options for domain names, choose a registrar to check for availability and register your name.
There are some free registrars - this might be a good choice for you base on what you're creating your website for. Look around for a good free one or take my recommendation.
